HKMSUK and HKMSA are proud to be collaborating with HKU Medicine on the webinar "140 for 140" Global Recruitment Webinar. We are honoured to have Associate deans, Professors and experienced doctors from HKU to take you through the career prospectus on research, teaching and other clinical opportunities at HKU Medicine. In addition, HKU has kindly invited two doctors from both Australia and the United Kingdom to share their experience transiting back to Hong Kong and address our members’ queries.

Webinar 2- HKMSA X RCR Lawyers: Specialty Pathways in Australia

HKMSA invited a few doctors from different specialties (and different states!) to cover topics on personal experience in applying to their specialties, and their training pathways. We also invited Shanalee Johal from the Rostron Carlyle Rojas law firm. Shanalee is a migration lawyer & registered migration agent (MARN 1910236) who is very familiar with Permanent Residence Visa Pathways to speak about international graduates' Visa requirements.


Our guest speakers:

Surgery: Dr. Arthur Ng (NSW)

Dr. Arthur Ng was born and raised in HK. After finishing HKALE, he went to Australia and completed his medical degree in UNSW. He did internship and his resident year at Blacktown Hospital and started his unaccredited surgical training at Westmead Hospital. He was currently an unaccredited surgical registrar at Westmead Hospital.


Radiology: Dr. Eddie Lau (VIC)

Dr. Lau is a dual trained radiologist at Austin Health with 15+ years of experience in cancer and multi-modality imaging including CT, MRI and PET. He holds honorary academic positions in both the departments of radiology and medicine at University of Melbourne. He has been appointed a clinical associate professor in the department of radiology since August 2008 and a principal fellow at Sir Peter Mac Department of Oncology since June 2012. Dr. Lau has more than 60 publications in the peer reviewed literature and 5 books/chapters, and he has participated in more than 100 presentations on various topics in cancer imaging at national and international meetings.


Paediatric: Dr. Andrew Lee (QLD)

Andrew studied medicine in the University of Queensland. Early in the career he developed an interest in early intervention and family centred care and found his role best served in paediatric and child health. Andrew rotated around hospitals in the South Eastern Queensland in the past few years refining his clinical skills, and also hasn’t stopped developing new interests outside of work.


General Practice: Dr Hadrian Lee (NSW)

Since graduating from the University of Adelaide, Dr. Lee has worked in various hospitals and practices in Adelaide and Sydney. He was currently in New South Wales. He found his passion in primary care and went onto pursue a career as a general practitioner, with a special interest in a lot of areas ranging from child and adolescent health to travel medicine. He subsequently attained Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Dr. Lee enjoys mentoring junior doctors as a GP supervisor and is passionate about helping others grow and achieve their goals.

Webinar 3- Acing the HKMLE (Members Only)

This was a webinar on the Hong Kong Medical Licensing Exam with LMCHK doctors from Australia sharing their experiences and tips on how to pass the exam, as well as what to expect during the observation period in Hong Kong. We will be having a 40-minute panel discussion, followed by a 10-minute Q&A session.

Webinar 4- HA X HKMSA: An Official Guide to Practicing Medicine in Hong Kong

This webinar was designed for medical students and doctors outside of Hong Kong who wish to join the Hong Kong public healthcare workforce. Speakers from the Hong Kong Hospital Authority will discuss the medical registration process, the Hong Kong Medical Licensing Exam, as well as specialty training opportunities in Hong Kong. There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end.
